All schools were invited to take part in a special garden area in St Johns as part of Blein yn Ellan Ain (Year of Our Island) 2018. We decided to take part and a small team met together to plan and put ideas together. The topic was “the environment around us”.
As Ashley Hill is hidden away near to Molly Quirks Glen, we used that as our inspiration. The glen is filled with beautiful trees, the odd rope swing, a stream which leads to the beach and a path for people to enjoy the surroundings. Our path has been made by children throughout the school. The school grounds are sloped towards the glen, hence the layout of our garden. There is an ash tree in the centre to represent the school as it is also part of our logo. The school uniform is red, so we have used red as our theme, with a splash of purple in memory of a former member of staff.
Please let Mrs Carcas know if you would like to be part of a team to up-keep the Ashley Hill plot in the coming months. If you would like to visit the gardens, it will be open throughout the summer at the Old Farmers Mart in St Johns.
