Three children from Ashley Hill were invited to Onchan Library this afternoon (Monday 20th January) to view the official opening of a display granted to the library by members of Harvey Briggs' family. Harvey's badge of office as Captain of the Parish of Onchan and his medallion of the Tynwald Honour are to be held in perpetual care of Onchan Commissioners and displayed in the Library.
His niece, Sue Moore, spoke to her uncle's involvement in Onchan life, including farming and his love of books. It was a pleasure to listen to Sue speak of Harvey's passion for literature and it is no surprise that the library was named after him.
The photo includes Saskia, Eliza and Joel, all regular users of the library, and all enjoyed remembering Harvey and taking their opportunity to mark this historic occasion!
