Four of our Year 6s joined a number of other schools at Tynwald today to take part in the annual Fairtrade Conference. George, Jemma, Jack R and Abigail took part in four workshops, including reading speeches in the Tynwald chamber. They also took part in a Philosophy for Children session about inequality, learnt about unfair trade 'Around the World' and learnt how profits are shared (often unequally) when chocolate is produced. The children will use this inspiring event to produce some actions within our school, starting with Fairtrade Fortnight coming up next half term. As expected, our Year 6s represented the school extremely well - they got involved in all the activities and showed excellent understanding of some challenging concepts.
