Primary Engineers Competition success

Published 6 hours 19 minutes ago

As part of our STEAM offer in Key Stage 2, our Year 5 children entered the Primary Engineers competition. This involves the children answering the question "If you were an engineer what would you do?" This might sound like a straightforward thing to answer, but our Year 5s must take their idea much further, providing a full design specification, relevance and purpose for their idea. A huge number of our entries in Year 5 were recognised for their design and two children made it through to the National Finals at UCM. I'm delighted to announce that Callum Bentham and Ayla Gelling both won the award for Year 5s and Ayla went on to become the overall winner for the island - a wonderful achievement. She becomes one of only 25 winners across the whole of the UK!! This is testament to the hard work and creativity our Year 5s have shown this year and supports the introduction of learning through STEAM!
