Since September, 4R have been having weekly lessons in Beginners Feddan (tin whistle) and have been supported in this by Chloe Woolley the Manx Music Development Officer. They have been learning to play traditional Manx tunes and were entered into the Manx Folk Awards where they performed Bee Dty Host and The Cormorant. From this experience, they have not only gained the practical skill of learning how to play a specific instrument but also the transferrable skill of reading musical notation.
Well done to all our Year 4s and to all children from Ashley Hill who were involved in the Folk Awards last week!
